Podcast #2

Oh man, we did it again - Podcast #2 is coming at you.  I know you didn’t ask for it (in fact, you probably asked for us NOT to do it) but we couldn’t help ourselves.  We just love hearing ourselves speak THAT MUCH.

In this episode, Clayton and Jon tackle something you all wanted to know so much about - things we wished we had gotten into at some point in our lives.  It could be crochet.  It could be golf.  But you won’t know what things they are until you listen!

PODCAST: #1 - Top 10 Favorite 90’s Bands

Podcast #1

Podcast #1

Well, we finally did it, something that we longed to do since we were mere children - we recorded a podcast.

Now this is our (Jon & Clayton) chance to forcibly shove our opinions down the throats of the people that listen (nobody) and then laugh as our amazing views on the world are slowly adopted to hilarious (and terrifying) results.

REVIEW: “Terminator Salvation” = Terminal Lameness

Warner Bros., 2009

Warner Bros., 2009

It’s the year 2018 and John Connor is leading (?, he kinda does I guess) the resistance against the machines in Terminator Salvation.  Through some directionless direction by McG and some unbelievably robotic CGI, Salvation never really rises above thoroughly medicore.

Although, the “Batman voice” does make an appearance, so that’s good, I guess.

REVIEW: Dinosaur Jr Keeps The Comeback Alive with “Farm”

2009, Jagjaguar

2009, Jagjaguar

After disbanding in 1997, mostly due to well-publicized strife between lead singer/guitarist J. Mascis’s feud with member Lou Barlow (for reference, see Sebadoh’s III), Dinosaur Jr. but hurt feelings to rest to release Beyond in 2007.  That record was well-received and a welcome return for the rockers, but many wondered if the fragile relationship would sustain and they’d be able to continue on to release more records.

Apparently things are well, and it’s a good thing, because new release, Farm is just as good, if not better.

REVIEW: “Moon”

Sony, 2009

Sony, 2009

Science Fiction is best when there are issues to be discussed and pondered.  What are the moral ramifcations of travelling through time?  How do people survive and deal with life on a far-off space station?  What happens when a black hole actually leads to HELL?  Ok, maybe the last one was a bit schlocky, but “Moon”, starring Sam Rockwell and directed by Duncan Jones is a movie that definitely deals with sci-fi topics in a human way.

And that’s why it’s awesome.

New Release Tuesday 6.9.09

New Releases!

New Releases!

Tuesday is the most wonderful day of the week since new DVDs and CDs are released!  This gives me ample opportunity to make judgements on things that I haven’t seen or listened to!  And never will!

So, in this new section on Scene 10, I will take a look at what’s being released today and tell you my completely unwarranted opinion (though it’s probably right in most cases).

“Reviews” after the jump.

REVIEW: Make “Room” for Tommy Wiseau

the-room

Copyright 2003 Wiseau Films

Once every great while a force bursts upon the film community.  In 1995 it was Quentin Tarantino, in 1975 it was Steven Speilberg.  In 2003 it was Tommy Wiseau with his opus, “The Room”.

You may ask, “Why is someone reviewing a movie that is nearly 6 years old?”  Well, “The Room” is experiencing a resurgence after being aired in a few outlets recently and midnight screenings every few weeks at theaters around the country.

And “The Room” must be seen.

And then there’s this…

And after finishing this song the kids went and blew up a nursing home.  This was just to get them pumped up.  Cute, but deadly.

Omegle my Eggo…or something.

omegle-logo In yesterday’s New York Times an article was written about a new site called Omegle.  The point of the site is to randomly chat with a total stranger - there is no profiles, no user names - nothing at all to identify you if you don’t wish to be identified.  There is a simplicity of it that reminds me of the pre-Myspace / Facebook days of AOL and IM-ing.

But the main reason I like this site is because of the ridiculous interactions you can have.  Chatting with strangers gives you a unique look at the world.  After the jump, enjoy some conversations I had today on Omegle.

Excelling at Mediocrity: Creed Releasing New Record

creedMondays are tough - especially with today’s Swine Flu epidemic raging througout the world!  However, Monday just got a little easier and more sunny with news that rock superstars Creed are re-uniting after a (too long!) six year absence.

Actually, I’m just kidding, Creed sucks.  They should stay broken up.
